As of 1 January 2024, the Swedish Forest Agency is offering property owners waiting agreements while waiting for a formal protections, a habitat protection area or a nature conservation agreement.Waiting agreements for formal protection are signed early in the process of an initiated case. The statistics for waiting agreements include agreements signed by the Swedish Forest Agency with property owners. The contract period for waiting contracts is normally two years and means that the property owner refrains from forestry within the contract area and during the contract period.
The property owners receive compensation in connection with the signing of the waiting agreement. Entering into a waiting agreement does not mean that formal protection will be formed. The statistics refer to agreements that were in force on 31 December of the most recent year in the statistics. Dots (..) standing for numbers mean that the number is too few to report and without risking that the compensation for individual objects can be disclosed.
